As individuals age, they may experience physical and cognitive decline, feelings of isolation, and a lack of fulfillment. Life changes can be overwhelming for seniors. However, art-as-therapy has been shown to alleviate emotional stressors, foster a sense of community, reduce social isolation, and improve overall well-being. Through art-as-therapy, seniors can form friendships, enhance cognitive abilities, and support brain health.
In our workshops for seniors, we engage in a journey of self-discovery and expression through art. Specifically designed art exercises catered to the elderly focus on the joy of creating, sparking memories, building confidence, fostering a sense of accomplishment, and overall well-being. These projects also aim to promote the use of motor skills and dexterity.
In a safe and nurturing environment, we offer art-as-therapy workshops that promote joy, personal growth, and mental well-being for seniors. With beginner-friendly activities using diverse mediums like watercolor, acrylics, oil crayons, and soft pastels, we provide all supplies and handle setup and cleanup, ensuring a relaxed focus on the creative process rather than the end result. Led by founder Wendie Appel, whose background in art, psychology, and eldercare inspires meaningful and therapeutic experiences, participants leave our sessions feeling encouraged, accomplished, and rejuvenated by the therapeutic power of artistic expression.
