As individuals age, they may experience physical and cognitive decline, feelings of isolation, and a lack of fulfillment. Life changes can be overwhelming for seniors. However, art-as-therapy has been shown to alleviate emotional stressors, foster a sense of community, reduce social isolation, and improve overall well-being. Through art as therapy, seniors can form friendships, enhance cognitive abilities, and support brain health.
In my workshops for seniors, we engage in a journey of self-discovery and expression through art. Specifically designed art exercises catered to the elderly focus on the joy of creating, sparking memories, building confidence, fostering a sense of accomplishment, and overall well-being. These projects also aim to promote the use of motor skills and dexterity.
Working in a safe and nurturing environment, we encourage personal growth and exploration. Participants in our workshops radiate smiles, demonstrating the true joy and fulfillment that artistic expression can bring. Seniors leave our sessions feeling encouraged, accomplished, and rejuvenated by the therapeutic benefits of art.
As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with extensive experience working with the senior population, I prioritize the well-being and safety of all participants.
I provide fun, simple, and enjoyable art activities for seniors, offering beginner-level classes using a variety of artistic mediums such as watercolor, acrylic paints, oil crayons, watercolor pencils, and soft pastels (chalks). I bring all necessary supplies (including smocks), set up and clean up, and provide a relaxed session focusing on the process rather than the end product.
With my background in art and psychology, along with years of working with the elderly, certifications in eldercare, dementia care, and ethics, I am dedicated to providing meaningful and enjoyable art-as-therapy workshops that promote mental well-being for seniors. In our workshops, we embrace the creative exploration, allowing for a truly transformative and enriching experience for all.
